Mark Rapp Presents a Jazz Dichotomy: the Music Jackson Pollock Loved and Hated

Thursday
December 6, 2018
6:00 pm-8:00 pm

Jackson Pollock loved straight-ahead swing music by Duke Ellington and Count Basie. He loved Louis Armstrong and Billie Holiday. Yet his painting reflects the progressive style of bebop musicians like Thelonious Monk, Charlie Parker, and John Coltrane. The Mark Rapp group presents a musical illustration of the conundrum of Pollock and jazz.
