Educator Workshop: All Around the World

Thursday, May 26, and Friday, May 27 | 11:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.

Images and objects provide wonderful insights into history, culture, and civilizations around the world. This in-depth, two-day workshop explores how to use works of art to build empathy, critical thinking, visual literacy, and problem-solving skills in social studies instruction. In these interactive sessions, we discuss arts integrations strategies to identify ways to incorporate visual images into the social studies curriculum and the recently updated standards.

All participants receive a digital copy of the CMA social studies toolkit, a $250 stipend to cover travel costs, and 10 hours of professional renewal credit.

Educators from the following S.C. counties are encouraged to register: Allendale, Calhoun, Cherokee, Dillon, Edgefield, Laurens, Lee, Marion, Marlboro, Newberry, and Saluda.

This project is funded in part by the South Carolina Arts Commission which receives support from the National Endowment for the Arts.
