Art Class: Woodblock Printmaking

Saturdays, May 15 and 22 | 10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.

Woodblock carving and printing provide opportunities to see the world with fresh eyes. In this two-session workshop, students carve two complementary woodblocks and create a variable edition of color prints using multiple inking techniques and chine collé, a printmaking collage technique. No previous printmaking experience necessary; appropriate for beginners as well as advanced artists. All materials and equipment provided. Taught by artist Mary Robinson. Capacity limited to 10 participants to ensure physical distancing in the CMA studios; face coverings are required.

Robinson is a professor of art and director of printmaking at the University of South Carolina, where she teaches both undergraduate and graduate students. In 2020, she received the Michael J. Mungo Undergraduate Teaching Award at UofSC. Her work is currently on view in the CMA Guignard Gallery exhibition Pressing Voices.
