Columbia Museum of Art’s board of trustees adds four new members

Talented local leaders bring their skills to the museum

Columbia, S.C. – The Columbia Museum of Art announces Bill Bodine, Lander Hiott, Felicia Rhue Howard, and J.P. Scurry as the four new members elected to serve on its board of trustees for the 2025 – 2028 term. 
 
Bodine is the former director of the Frick Art Museum in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He previously held positions at the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, the Corcoran Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C., the High Museum of Art in Atlanta, and the Columbia Museum of Art. During Bodine’s eight years at the CMA, from 1994 to 2002, he served as chief curator and deputy director and oversaw the museum’s relocation from the Taylor House on Senate Street to its current home on Main Street. Bodine served as a trustee for the Drayton Hall Preservation Trust from 2016 to 2025 (taking the lead as chair in 2020) and currently volunteers on the CMA collections committee.  
 
Hiott is a deputy principal at Parker Poe Consulting with roughly a decade of experience in political campaigns, lobbying, grassroots networking, and media relations across the state. His volunteerism includes serving on the boards of CMA affinity group The Contemporaries and the Elmwood Park Neighborhood Association. 
 
Now retired, Howard enjoyed a successful career in the energy sector. She most recently served as vice president of economic development strategy at Dominion Energy and previously held positions at Westinghouse Electric Corporation and South Carolina Electric & Gas Company. Howard currently volunteers as a board member for the SC Ports Authority Ambassador Program, the USC Educational Foundation, and Central Carolina Community Foundation’s African American Philanthropy Committee.  
 
Scurry is a senior vice president of Crosland Banes Group. Prior to his career in commercial real estate, he worked in investment banking, including 16 years at Colliers International. Scurry also serves on the CMA finance committee as well as on the boards of directors for South Carolina CCIM and Heathwood Hall Episcopal School.

The CMA board of trustees’ elected officers for this term are as follows: Therese Griffin, incoming president; Anne Marie Stieritz, incoming vice president; Steve McKelvey, secretary; and Jesse Smith, treasurer.
