#WhatSheSaid Project Story Slam: Nature vs. Nurture

Thursday, October 4, 2018

7:00 p.m.

Free with membership or admission.

Katie Pell’s art speaks to the human condition, and so do the voices of the #WhatSheSaid Project. In celebration of Something’s Happening: The Big Art of Katie Pell, the CMA partners with Shannon Ivey for the fourth season of Story Slam during October’s First Thursday on Main. Storytellers explore the concept of nature versus nurture and how individual experiences truly shape a person. The #WhatSheSaid Project uses improvisation, Theatre of the Oppressed exercises, and first-person storytelling in a Moth-style story slam format to engage storytellers and audiences in socially responsible community action and connection. Shannon Ivey, MFA, a professional actor, activist, and lover of a good tale, and founder and artistic director of the #WhatSheSaid Project serves as the evening’s host. Cash bar. Recommended for audiences 16 and up.

The #WhatSheSaidProject is funded in part by the South Carolina Arts Commission which receives support from the National Endowment for the Arts.

This program is funded in part by a generous award from the John and Susan Bennett Memorial Arts Fund of the Coastal Community Foundation of SC.
