From Soil to Soul: Exploring (Un)Settled Through Music and Conversation

Friday
August 23, 2024
6:00 pm-8:00 pm

Explore (Un)Settled: The Landscape in American Art through an evening of art, music, conversation, and storytelling. Musician and host Benny Starr is joined by featured guests Beckee Garris, Catawba citizen, historian, and storyteller; Marion “Rollen” Chalmers, business owner and farmer of SC heritage crops; Thomas Mosely, drummer and storyteller; and Rodrick BinGichi and JT Rollerson, multi-instrumentalists from the Four20s band.

Centered on the idea of creativity within themes of labor, justice, environment, and spirituality – all of which are crucial components to dealing with the world’s environmental problems – the program journeys from music to conversation to storytelling and back, offering a unique experience that encourages audience participation and creative connection across generations regardless of artistic background.

The program begins in the galleries, then moves to an onstage discussion and performance followed by audience Q&A. Light food from CITY GRIT Catering included. Cash bar.

$15 / $12 for members. Join today!
