Lunchtime Folk Music Series featuring The Water Kickers and The Runout

Friday
October 11, 2024
11:30 am-1:30 pm

Head to Boyd Plaza for a free lunchtime folk music series from Columbia musician Sean Thomson. With two acts from the Midlands performing each week, listeners can expect a variety of sounds and styles in multiple short back-to-back sets.

Drop by any time during the concert to enjoy the music. Grab lunch from Heaven's Cuisine or bring your own from home — or one of our Main Street neighbors!

Free.

The Water Kickers

The Water Kickers are a Folk Rock/Americana collaboration of singer/songwriters Kelley and Brodie Porterfield. They combine intricate harmonies, heartfelt narratives, and innovative picking to carry listeners to new borderlands of the modern songscape. In addition to their original compositions, they are thoughtful interpreters and students of classic works of songcraft throughout history.

The Runout

The Runout is an alt-country/Americana band based out of Columbia featuring Moses Andrews III, Chris Compton, Mike Scarboro, and Jeff Gregory. "The Runout has a tight sound, drawing from the kind of ballady introspection of Jackson Browne, and exploring the kind of free-floating melodicism favored by modern acts such as Charleston's SUSTO..." — Ethan Fogus, Free Times.

In the event of heavy rain, program will be canceled. A grant from the Knight Foundation Fund at Central Carolina Community Foundation supported this project.
