Frida Kahlo: In Conversation with Body Matters

Join Director of Learning & Engagement Chadric Devin and Curator Sadé Ayorinde at the Nick for a screening of documentary Frida Kahlo (2020) followed by a conversation that explores connections between Kahlo’s work and the CMA’s new exhibition, Body Matters. 

Putting selected works from the exhibition in dialogue with Kahlo’s paintings, Chadric and Sadé discuss how contemporary artists continue to engage with ideas of the body through their creative practices. Although Kahlo’s work emerges from a different artistic tradition than the craft materials and processes represented in Body Matters, her sustained attention to the body offers a compelling point of entry into the exhibition’s broader themes.
