Diwali Kickoff Party

Diwali, the Indian festival of lights, is an annual holiday that brings together people from across India and the world to celebrate goodness and knowledge with neighbors. This year Diwali returns to the CMA — South Carolina’s only international art museum — with dancing, shopping, food, chai, and art activities. Throw on some colorful clothes and dance to Bollywood and Bhangra tunes provided by Bhangra Vibes. Learn about Diwali at an information table and participate in activities including Bhangra and Bollywood dance tutorials from Gruv Dance Academy and Panna Chauhan, rangoli design instruction from folk artist Jugnu Verma, and diya (clay lamp) painting. Plus, get a stylized henna tattoo from one of three local artists, take a photo with friends at a Bollywood-themed photo booth, and shop local Indian clothing vendors. Purchase dosas, samosas, and other Indian delights from 2 Gingers and Persis Biryani Indian Grill.
