We're more than just a pretty space. With dynamic exhibitions and fun programs, the CMA is redefining the modern museum as the bustling social hub of our community.

Engage Your Mind

Our adult art classes, tours, and lectures offer fun ways for grown-ups to learn—no #2 pencils required! And our children’s programs—including our kindergarten readiness program, Gladys’ Gang, and our free community outreach programs—are some of the best in the Southeast.

Enrich Your Life

Exciting national exhibitions cycle through every few months, so there’s always a new reason to visit the museum. Many of our programs are offered for free, and our collection is one of the most comprehensive and eclectic in the region.

Some of our favorite pieces include:

Enjoy Your City

The CMA is the cultural heart of a revitalized downtown Columbia, and we love hosting block parties for our neighbors and friends on Boyd Plaza. Our community partners support and sponsor events at the museum, so when you enjoy events at the CMA, you’re also supporting local businesses. It’s a win/win!

Meet Your Museum

The Columbia Museum of Art is among the leading art institutions in the country. In our 25+ galleries, you’ll find art that spans 5,000 years of history and all areas of the globe. Our Wells Fargo Interactive Education Gallery is always free for children and families. Established in 1950, we now welcome and reach more than 150,000 people a year. We have received a National Medal for Museum Services, a National Art Education Association awards for our contributions to arts education, a National Park Foundation Award, and two Elizabeth O'Neill Verner Governor's Awards for the Arts for outstanding contributions to the arts in South Carolina.

The Columbia Museum of Art is a charitable nonprofit organization that celebrates creativity and champions arts education in our community. We are dedicated to lifelong learning and community enrichment for all.

We are grateful for the generous support and vision of the City of Columbia, Richland County, the State of South Carolina, and the numerous donors and supporters who share the CMA’s mission to educate, enrich, and inspire the community and visitors to our state.
