Important Information For All Groups
To schedule your visit:
- Review the Museum's programs and write down any questions you may have.
- Determine at least two dates and times when you may be able to schedule your visit.
- Check on the availability of your transportation for these dates.
- Call the museum reservation line at 803.343.2209, or email acimballa@columbiamuseum.org and provide the following information:
- Name of contact person
- School or organization and address
- Telephone number with area code and best time to call
- Age or grade level for school tours
- Size of group
- Title of program requested
- Two possible dates and times for the tour
- Any special needs your group might have
Your message will be promptly returned (usually within 24 hours). If the date and program you selected are available, you will receive a notification letter and an invoice for a non-refundable reservation deposit of $35. Once your reservation fee has been received, a confirmation letter as well as information on parking and drop off directions will be mailed to you.
Arrival Time: Please arrange for your group to arrive 15 minutes prior to your program time.
Late Arrival: Please call us at 803.799.2810 if you know that you are running late! We will make every effort to accommodate you or to reschedule your program but remember that tours are tightly scheduled. Groups that fail to arrive within 15 minutes of the scheduled time without prior approval will forfeit their reservation deposit. We're sorry, but there are no exceptions.
Special Needs: Please inform us of any special needs that your students may have when you make your reservation. This allows adequate time to ensure that these needs are met. The Museum is fully accessible for those with physical disabilities.
Identification: Identification tags with the children's names CLEARLY printed are required and enable our guides to personalize your program.
Museum Shop: Groups are encouraged to visit the Museum Shop after their program has ended. Please divide k-12 students into smaller groups of no more than 10, and chaperones are to remain with their groups at all times.
Reservations will not be confirmed until the reservation deposit of $35 is received. ($30 is applied toward admission; $5 processing fee.) Admission fees are due upon arrival. Checks and credit cards are accepted.
Cancellations, rescheduling, and other changes: Call the Group Tours Manager at 803.343.2209 or email acimballa@columbiamuseum.org if you must cancel your reservation. A $10 fee is charged to groups who cancel their tour without providing at least 10 days notice.
The Group Tour Manager will work with you to select another date, however, dates are subject to availability. Please call or email with an alternate date as soon as possible. Additionally, please let us know if the size of your group changes significantly from that listed on your confirmation. If your group's size decreases to fewer than 10 participants, you are still required to pay the minimum group rate.
