Take off for locales rich in culture and art history! Trips are organized in collaboration with the director, curators or other art experts to ensure a quality experience that meets the goal of the Columbia Museum of Art to be the gateway to cultural learning and experience. Enliven your experience and expand your knowledge of a vast array of subjects including not only art, but also music, theater, food and wine.
The Museum offers two levels of travel — Premier Society trips and General Member trips. Premier Society trips are open exclusively to members at the $500 level and above and feature exclusive, behind-the-scene tours. General Member trips are open to all members of the Museum and are wonderful opportunities to visit artful destinations around the globe.
Thursday, October 25 – Sunday, October 28
CMA Premier Society members are in for a weekend full of art and music in Philadelphia. In the late spring the acclaimed Barnes Collection will be installed in its new home. This collection, considered one of the finest private collections of Impressionist, Post-Impressionist and early modern art in the world is the impetus for the trip, but there is so much more: the Philadelphia Orchestra with violinist Joshua Bell playing Bernstein, curator-led tours of the Philadelphia Museum of Art and the Pennsylvania Academy of the Arts (source of our Chemistry of Color show), visits to collectors and galleries, and a walking tour of the vibrant and historic neighborhoods of Old City and Society Hill. It's a jam-packed weekend not to be missed.
Chief Curator Will South and Executive Director Karen Brosius will lead the group.
