Why should I join or renew my membership to the Columbia Museum of Art?
Membership is still the best way to experience everything the CMA has to offer! As a member, you have special access and discounts throughout the museum, as well as opportunities for enhanced leaning and involvement. A tax-deductible membership helps to support our mission to celebrate outstanding artistic creativity through its collection, exhibition and programs, interacting in ways that engage the mind and enrich the spirit. How can I become a member of CMA?
There are a number of ways to join – online, by phone, or by visiting the Museum during our normal operating hours. You could also mail in your membership payment to Post Office Box 2068, Columbia, SC 29202 (all checks should be made payable to the Columbia Museum of Art). If I buy a Dual level membership, can I designate the second cardholder as a guest?
Yes, the second card would be considered a guest card. With a guest card, you do not need to designate a specific person; rather you can bring a friend with you at anytime.
I am an individual member of CMA. May I bring a guest to a members-only event?
Members’ events and preview parties are designed exclusively for members of the CMA. Individual memberships admit one person to the Museum for general admission and exclusive member-only events. For just $25 more you can join at the Dual membership level, where you can bring a guest at anytime. Click here to Upgrade or Renew today. How long does it take to get a permanent membership card after I send in my payment?
You can expect your card(s) in one to two weeks after you purchase your membership.
Where do I show my membership card?
We ask that members show their membership card at the Admissions Desk upon arriving at the museum. Members will receive a member sticker, identifying you as an exclusive member of the CMA. Members will also need their Membership card to receive 10% discount at the Museum Shop.
My membership card has been lost or stolen. Can I get a new one?
Of course! Just call our Membership Coordinator at 803.343.2198 and we would be happy to send you a new one.
How can I update my contact information?

Simply update your information and send it to us at Post Office Box 2068, Columbia, SC 29202 or fax it to us at Attn: Membership Coordinator, 803.343.2150. Or call our Membership Coordinator at 803.343.2198 and we are happy to update your information.
Is my membership gift tax deductible?
If you are a General Member (Individual, Dual, Kids Plus! or Patron) then yes, your membership is 100% tax deductible. Please click here to see Premier Society and Corporate membership level tax deductibility.
If I buy a Kids Plus! membership, can I bring my 19 year old son or daughter to an event?
A Kids Plus! membership includes two adults and any children/grandchildren under the age of 18. If your 19 year old son or daughter is a student, why not consider buying them an Individual membership with a student discount membership?
I am interested in upgrading my membership to a higher level. Do I have to wait until my membership expires?

What is the duration of membership?
Your membership is valid for one year from the date you purchase your membership. NOTE: The membership is valid from the date of purchase, not the date of first visit to the museum.
What is reciprocal membership?
CMA participates into two types of Reciprocal programs, the Southeastern Reciprocal Membership Program (SERM) and the Northeastern Reciprocal Membership Program (NARM). As a valued member of the CMA, your membership benefits will also be honored at these reciprocal museums. Please click here to see the latest version of the SERM list and NARM list.
Do I need to be a member of CMA to join an affiliate group?
Yes, you must be a CMA member to join an Affiliate Membership group.
How do I make a charitable contribution to the Museum?
There are a number of ways to give to the Museum– online, by phone, or by visiting the Museum during our normal operating hours. You could also mail in your gift to Post Office Box 2068, Columbia, SC 29202 (all checks should be made payable to the Columbia Museum of Art Annual Fund).
