Volunteer Opportunities

You can help promote the Museum's mission to inspire, educate and enrich by volunteering at the Columbia Museum of Art. There are several rewarding ways in which you can contribute your time and enthusiasm.

Museum Shop
Volunteers help customers with their selections, help pack and unpack merchandise, gift-wrap during the holiday season, and ring up sales on the register. Volunteers are especially needed during the holidays and on Saturdays.

Education Department
The education department is responsible for developing programs and educational activities. Studio volunteers help staff with a variety of programs, including children's hands-on art classes. You can also join the Docent Program - these special volunteers are trained to lead public and group tours through the galleries.

Membership Department
Volunteers are needed to staff membership tables at a variety of museum and community events, as well as to assist staff with mailings, telephoning, and events.

Marketing Department
Marketing department volunteers assist with the distribution of posters and brochures throughout the community.

Special Events Department
If you love a good party, the events department is the perfect fit for you. This department is responsible for the Museum's special events. Volunteers are needed for a variety of tasks with these events.

Greeters
The perfect way to meet people, these volunteers assist the staff in welcoming and orienting visitors. Responsibilities might include greeting guests, obtaining visitor's zip codes, selling and taking tickets, coat check, and event registration.

Contemporaries Membership Group
This group offers young professionals an opportunity to support the Museum through a wide range of social and educational opportunities, including lectures, receptions, and the Young Artist of the Year art show. Contemporaries' volunteers help out at all of these events and more!

Columbia Design League
This membership group is dedicated to promoting and enhancing public awareness of design issues and promoting dialogue between design professionals, the community and civic leaders. Volunteers for the Design League assist the group in implementing a variety of events and by promoting the group to the public.
