Contemporaries
The Contemporaries of the Columbia Museum of Art are comprised of an active membership of over 200 young professionals from the Columbia area. The mission of the Contemporaries is to provide an opportunity to support the Museum through:
- Promoting the Museum and its programs
- Diversifying the Museum's membership, and
- Leading the next generation of Museum supporters.
Each year, the Contemporaries host a series of social and cultural events that bring members and the Columbia community together at the Museum. These annual events include:
The Contemporaries Artist of the Year Soiree & Silent Auction: This event is an opportunity for the young leaders in the art community to recognize the next generation of emerging artists from across South Carolina. The competition and silent auction give the artists an opportunity to exhibit their work and everyone has a great night!
The Black and White Ball: A black-tie gala in the Spring bringing together the Contemporaries and the membership of the Museum for an evening of live music and the elegance of masked, black and white-clad guests - it is a night that you won't forget!
Contemporary Evenings: The Contemporaries host evening cocktail parties in conjunction with museum exhibitions throughout the year. The events are wonderful opportunities to meet new people and experience the Museum's art collection and exhibitions in an informational, fun and non-intimidating way.
These events are held in support of the Art Acquisition Fund - fulfilling the goal of the Contemporaries to contribute a significant contemporary work to the Museum's collection.
Contemporaries Membership: $15 for one adult or $25 for two adults.
The Contemporaries welcome you to join us at any event throughout the year. Contact Caroline Quillen, development manager at 803.343.0480 for more information or cquillen@columbiamuseum.org.
