Baker and Baker Foundation presents, Art of Music: Nakatani Gong Orchestra
Acoustic sound artist and percussionist Tatsuya Nakatani, born and raised in Osaka-Japan, currently resides in Easton, PA. Nakatani performs and tours all over the world teaching, lecturing, and playing with some of the most renowned musicians in the new and improvised music scene. His unique exploration of sound through percussion is at once experimental and highly accessible as he applies bows and mallets to multiple, large gongs creating low and powerful reverberations that are at once relaxing and profoundly moving. Nakatani has played Columbia previously as a soloist, in duets, and small groups, but he returns this time with an orchestra of local players to help him expand the rich harmony of multiple gongs.
