Wee Wednesdays: Zig Zag! Curly! Wiggly! 10:00 - 11:00 a.m.
Learn all about lines in the galleries and create a very linear piece bursting with color and energy. Participants (ages 2-5) and their adult companions explore art through the introduction of elementary art terms such as color, line, shape and texture during the Wee Wednesday series. This five-series program includes story time and a creative studio activity related to the art exploration theme.

Art of the Western World presents works within a religious, intellectual and social context. Host Michael Wood, along with a team of international art experts, provides the ultimate guided tour through two millennia of creative genius. Part one, An Age of Reason, An Age of Passion, shows how the playful fantasy and provocative subjects of the Rococo style gave way to strict rationalism. Striving for individual expression, Romantic painters Goya, Gericault, and Delacroix demonstrated a range of styles and subjects. Part two, A Fresh View-Impressionism and Post-Impressionism, features the first giants of the modern age from Courbet and Manet to the Impressionists Monet, Degas and Renoir. It also showcases the masters of Post-Impressionism, van Gogh, Cézanne, Seurat and Gauguin. 114 minutes.

Baker & Baker Foundation presents: Art of Music: Opus Two Performs George Gershwins Porgy and Bess 3:00 p.m.
Opus Two performs works by George Gershwin, one of Americas most popular and iconic composers. In honor of the 75th anniversary of Gershwins death in 1937, violinist William Terwilliger and pianist Andrew Cooperstock perform Jascha Heifetzs arrangements from Gershwins landmark folk opera Porgy and Bess. Through engaging commentary, Terwilliger and Cooperstock explore Gershwins groundbreaking contribution to American music. In addition, SC dancer Barbara Howse-Diemers Porgy and Bess interpretation is featured on film.

Film: Art 21 Episode 3 History3:00 p.m.
Art 21 Access 12 is an international screening initiative created to increase knowledge of contemporary art, ignite dialogue and inspire creative thinking. The third episode, History, features Glenn Ligon, Marina Abramović and Mary Reid Kelley who play with historical events, explore and expose common assumptions about historic truths, and create narratives based on personal experiences. This event is produced in collaboration with Art21, Inc., a non-profit contemporary art organization serving artists, students, teachers, and the general public worldwide.

Get up close and personal with the 2012 Runaway Runway outfits and learn about the designers concept and construction process. From a gown made of old phone books to a Cyborg Lolita dress made of recycled computer parts, these creations range in theme and materials and are wild eco-friendly fashions that elevate green awareness through good design.

About Face Face Off8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
South Carolina artists draw and paint portraits of one another in a head to head, single-elimination competition. The judged competition consists of four rounds, each lasting 90 minutes. Artists 18 and older are invited to enter and are randomly paired, each painting or drawing the others portrait in their medium of choice. First place prize is $500, and second place prize is a $250 gift certificate to City Art. Third place prize is a $25 gift certificate to the Museum Shop and a collection of exhibition catalogues.
