It's a madly mysterious, stylishly sensational party with a bubbly lounge for the ladies, a liquor tasting for the gentlemen and lots of exquisite food, drinks and dancing for all! Fashioned after Truman Capote's legendary 1966 Black and White Ball, the Contemporaries' seventh annual masked ball is a much-anticipated annual celebration with net proceeds benefiting the Contemporaries of the Columbia Museum of Art . Masks are available for purchase in the Museum Shop.

Wear your costume and enjoy a Spooktacular Night at the Museum! Adults and their children will decorate gourds, take a spooky tour through the Museum's collection, watch the enchanting magic of John Tudor, create their own works of art, buy some sweet treats, have their faces painted, and learn some tricks from a mad scientist!

Films from MoMA is a new series at CMA providing access to an unparalleled collection of rare films and videos from the Museum of Modern Art's Department of Film. Alexandra Khokhlova was a leading actress in early Soviet films and wife of renowned film director Lev Kuleshov. She starred in most of his films from the early 1920s and became known in film circles throughout the world. This documentary features excerpts from her films including a lost film, "The Journalist" by Kuleshov and provides a glimpse into Russian film history. 30 minutes.

Art School: Painting the Rothko Way 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.Art School: Painting the Rothko Way
Create your own canvas of vibrant paintings in the style of Mark Rothko. Students (ages 16 and up) learn about brushes, paint application tools, canvas construction, color theory and how to build up multiple layers using modern acrylic paint and mediums. Instructor Grant N. Jackson holds an M.F.A. in painting from Florida State University and has taught courses at the CMA since 2003.
