Recertification Units for Educators
The Museum offers programs and classes that qualify for recertification units through the South Carolina State Department of Education. Many of the Museum's Art School classes, lectures and teacher programs qualify for unit requirements. Sign up early for Art School as space is limited to provide individualized instruction. Evening for Educators
Tuesday, February 12, 4:30 - 6:00p.m.
Offered in connection with each major exhibition during the school year, the “Evening for Educators” program, sponsored by SCANA, provides guidance to teachers in using the Museum as a valuable resource both in their classrooms and as a field study option.  During the evening educators enjoy a wine and cheese reception, receive a guided tour of the exhibition and a customized educators’ kit, which includes information about the exhibition, a CD with images of the art, and sample lesson plans that meet state and national curriculum standards.  These kits allow educators to implement museum-designed lesson plans in their own classrooms, reaching hundreds of students.
