Collection: The Columbia Museum of Art's Lorick Library was established in 1950 with the founding of the Museum, and is an art research, non-lending reference library. It is the largest art museum library in South Carolina, with a focus on the Museum's collecting strengths of American and European fine and decorative arts. The collection of 14,000 volumes has been developed through an acquisitions program of purchases and gifts; participation in a museum publications exchange program provides important exhibition catalogs from across the nation. Information is also available through 30 art periodicals, selected auction catalogs, auction sales result publications, and specialized art dictionaries and encyclopedia.
